The radiant Hanuman, who has got long powerful arms and capable to assume any form as  desired,  best among the Vanaras after conquering Lankini leapt over the colossal fortress wall, instead of entering through the main gates.  Hanuman who always desires for the welfare of Sugriva, King of Vanaras entered the City of Lanka placing his left foot, as if placing them on the head of enemies.  In the hours of darkness, Hanuman, son of Lord Vayu, gifted with immense strength walked through the beautiful royal pathways that was decked with flowers and pearls.  The grand city of Lanka shone like clouds in the sky with beautiful mansions of demons in various auspicious patterns of lotus flowers filled with happiness and joy, decorated with diamonds, reverberated with the sounds of divine musical instruments.  Hanuman, who performs deeds for the welfare of monkey King Sugriva and Rama, was happy to witness the wonderful city and its auspiciousness and enjoyed every bit of the glory of it.  Hanuman could listen to the mellifluous music of Thristhanaswara similar to the celestial Apasaras of heaven.  He could also listen to tinkling sounds of jewels worn on the waist of the women, noises of footsteps on the stairs, sounds of clapping of arms by the warriors and roars of demons.  Hanuman could listen to the voice of Vedic chants of demons and some of them were engaged in the study of Veda.  Hanuman could see mighty demons immersed in safeguarding the palace and its pathways.  Hanuman saw some of the demons engaged in Vedic studies with matted hair locks, shaven head, attired in animal skin and Kusha grass on their hands and vessels for ritual, some of the demons were carrying clubs and fierce weapons on their hands.  The demons had dreadful appearance like Yekashi/one-eyed, Yekakarna/one eared, pot bellied and hanging bosoms, hunchbacked, hazy and multiple appearance, twisted mouths, too short, very fat, very thin, some of them were neither dark nor fair, some of them had good appearance and intelligent, etc..  Hanuman saw that some of the mighty demons were carrying spears, flags, and ferocious weapons like spear, sword, pestles, and clubs, strange armor, weapons made out of woods, vicious weapons, noose and sling.  Some of the demons were decked in flower garlands and finest jewels, smearing sandal paste all over their bodies were freely moving at their own will.  There were hundreds and thousands of mighty demons were positioned to guard the inner areas of the palace by the command of Ravana.  Hanuman witnessed the grand palace of Ravana with golden door ways, located on the top of the mountain, surrounded by huge wall and moats filled with white lotus flowers.  Hanuman entered the palace equivalent to the paradise where thousands of mighty demons were on their duty, he could listen to the neighing of horses, tinkling of ornaments, chariots and aerial cars with elephants with four tusks and horses.  The Palace of Ravana was filled with golden pathways and portico was filled with the aroma of expensive fragrances; inner areas were decked with diamonds and pearls.
