Hanuman leaped over the huge
fortress wall and dashed to far off from the palace of Ravana in search of
Sita, daughter of King Janaka. He spoke
softly to himself “ I have been searching the whole of the city of Lanka for
Vaidhehi who is the delight of Rama, and
has beautiful appearance and physique, but unfortunately I could not
find her anywhere. I have conducted
rigorous search in pool, rivers, lake, stream, ponds, mountains etc…I precisely
remember the words of Sampathi, Eagle King who assured that Sita is in the
palace of Ravana, but I failed to find her.
Sita, who is born in Mithila, daughter of King of Vidheha, undergoes
severe austerities, noble minded, has beautiful long eyes like lotus petals,
resembles fool moon, must have helplessly remained in the custody of evil
minded Ravana or she must have fallen to death while she was abducted by wicked
Ravana who was fleeing in fear of arrow of Rama, or she must have sunk in the
ocean while carrying by Ravana, or she must have gave up her life by the
torture of Ravana or she must have fallen in the vast ocean while her struggle
to escape, or she must have consumed by wicked Ravana while she was trying to
protect her chastity when no one to protect her, or she must have consumed by
the horrific demons wives of Ravana, with evil thoughts, or she must have attained the heavenly abode
while meditating upon Rama, or she must have sacrificed her life calling out
the names of ‘Oh! Rama, Oh! Lakshmana !’, or she must have imprisoned by the
sinner Ravana in his palace and she must be weeping bitterly, how did Ravana
abducted the virtuous daughter of King Janaka, chaste wife of Rama with
beautiful physique and long beautiful eyes like rose petals ?. It is unfair to inform Rama that his wife is
not seen by me yet, or died or lost; I am in a pathetic situation without
knowing how to perform the task without knowing the exactness of the situation
and moreover the time has lapsed already.
What is the use of meeting Sugriva without any information about Sita?
It does not make any sense at all and it is going to be absolute waste of
crossing the vast ocean to reach the city of Lanka and bump upon the dreadful
demons. If I say that I did not find
Sita to Rama, it will definitely be malicious, unsympathetic, heartbreaking
news for him and that will cause him to death; he will give up his life. Seeing the pitiable state of Rama, Lakshmana
who is most intelligent and affectionate to him will die and it will cause the
death of Bharatha and Shathrugna as well.
After seeing all the sons are dead, mother Kousalya, Sumithra and
Kaikeyi will also give up their lives.
The great leader of Vanaras, Sugriva who is sincere to Raghava, will not
survive and eventually it will cause the death of Ruma who is already in a
wretched state after separation from her husband for long time, eventually
Thara who is already in a state of grief at the demise of her husband Vali will
give up her life, young Angadha will die at the demise of his parents,
ultimately the Vanaras with their families who has lot of respect for Sugriva
and happy at his gifts, will face their death by hitting their head with their
fists or give up their life by falling down from the huge mountains or kill
themselves with fierce weapons, or consume poison, or sacrifice their lives in
the fire, or give up their lives by fasting.
If I go back without any fruitful information about Sita that would be
the disaster of Ikshvaku dynasty and complete annihilation of Vanaras, I am
totally incapable to visit the city of Kishkindha or meet Sugriva without any
information about Sita. If I did not
return, that will make the virtuous and valorous Rama and Lakshman live and
mighty Vanaras as well. This is going to be my final option if I did
not see Sita, I may continue to live like a hermit near the ocean, consuming on
water, fruits and tubers or I will sacrifice my life in the fire or I may fast
and die, remaining of my body will be food for crows and vultures. Due to the failure in finding Sita, I have
destroyed the garland of my long time glories, therefore I will not return
without seeing Sita. My return without
performing the task of Rama will cause destruction, therefore I will continue
to live.” In this way, Hanuman immersed in various thoughts and besieged with
extreme sorrow. “Otherwise, as retaliation for the abduction of Sita, I will
kill the gallant Ravana who has ten heads or I will carry Ravana like an animal
to Rama or I will conduct my search till I find Sita, wife of Rama, if I did
not submit his wife, he will definitely burn the Vanaras. I will live a restrained life with limited
food and controlled senses that would keep the virtuous men and Vanaras alive. I have not been to Ashokavatika with great
woods yet, I will conduct my search there too.
My salutation to Ashtavasukkal ! Rudras ! Adityas ! Ashvinikumaras ! Seven Maruthganas
! I will accumulate the sorrows of
demons and defeat them and will provide Sita who is the delight of Ikshvaku dynasty and Rama, the fruit of her asceticism. ?”. Hanuman raised from the ground, gathered his all energy with extreme grief offered prayers:
Namosthu Ramaya Sa Lakshmanaya |
Devyai Cha Thasyai Janakathmajayai |
Namosthu Rudrendra Yamanilebhyo | Namosthu Chandrakka
Maruthganebhya: ||
Once again, Hanuman, son of Lord
Vayu offered his prayers to Lord Rama with Lakshman along with the Goddess Sri
Janaki, Lord Rudra, Lord Indra, Lord Yama, Lord Agni, Lord Chandra, Lord Surya
and Maruthganas. Hanuman offered prayers
to Sugriva and closely observed all directions and proceeded to Ashokavatika
which is crammed with dreadful demons, woods and auspiciousness. It will be safeguarded by horrific demons; I
should reduce my size for Rama in order to protect myself from the sight of
Ravana. All the deities and ascetics may
shower blessings on me, Lord Brahma, Lord Agni, Lord Vayu, Lord Indra who has
fierce weapons like Vajra,Varuna,Pasha, Lord Surya, Lord Chandra and the
Ashwinikumaras, Ishwara, Maruthganas and all the deities in the living
creatures may provide success to me. How
I am going to witness the gorgeous Sita with beautiful eyes like rose petals,
attractive smile and has the resemblance of full moon, weak and fragile ? When I will have the opportunity to see Sita who has beautiful appearance with long attractive eyes like rose petals and has the resemblance of full moon was forcefully taken away by wicked Ravana? "
Jai Sriman Narayana !!
