Hanuman
witnessed a marvelous couch in the Ravana’s private chamber, like in the abode
of deities; it has the radiance of Lord Agni, decorated in crystals, diamonds,
ivory, gold and various precious stones, embellished with Ashoka flower
garland. The couch was covered with the marvelous
sheep skin and decked with flower garlands.
There was an umbrella white in color festooned with fresh alluring
flowers resembled Lord Chandra. There
were beautiful women stood around the grand couch and fanned from all directions,
and the whole atmosphere was filled with the aroma of sweet fragrances. Hanuman saw Ravana, who has the ability to
assume any form at his will, highly attractive, attired in majestic garments,
adorned in finest jewelry and stunning earrings, red eyes, long and powerful
arms. His body was shone like cloud at
the time of twilight; it was full of red sandal paste with strong scent
resembled like Mount Mandhara surrounded by woods. Ravana, King of demons who is adorned in
attractive ornaments, was relaxing after a pleasurable night with the young maidens;
he was sleeping in the grand couch after consuming intoxicated drinks. Hanuman, best among the Vanaras came closer
to Ravana and moved away abruptly in terror, as if witnessing a hissing
serpent. Hanuman searched for stairways and took seat on that, closely
observed Ravana who was sleeping on the grand couch was resembled like a
marvelous lake of best elephants, his strong and powerful arms were decorated
with golden armlets spread on both ways, resembled flags raised in honor of
Lord Indra, It has the scars of wounds
caused while battling with the elephant Airavatha, raised shoulders with the
scars of wounds caused by the holy wheel of Lord Vishnu, were covered with the
ornaments made of diamonds. His strong
and powerful arms are podgy and ideal to the raised shoulders were smeared in
best sandal paste which is most desirable for Yakshas, nagas, Devas, Dhanavas
and Gangharvas and it was massaged by gorgeous women, his perfect physique
resembled five hooded serpent in the mount Mandhara. His raised shoulders were like the twin peaks
in Mount Mandhara, Ravana breathed out the sweet fragrances of Chutha and Punnaga, Vakula flowers and along
with the superior qualities of intoxicated drinks while sleeping and it spread
all over the palace. Hanuman witnessed
the King of demon with finest jewels, attractive earrings and attired in grand
silk clothes with his wives, shone like the hue of pearls, diamonds and gold,
his snoring was like hiss of serpent in the middle of sacred river Ganga, in
the light of lamps in all directions.
The best among the Vanaras, Hanuman witnessed the face of wives of Ravana who has the radiance of Lord Chandra,
attired in splendid clothes and adorned in finest jewels, grand earrings
studded with precious gems were in sleep resembled like stars in the sky. Some of the women were tired of passionate
sport with Ravana and bend forward and slept, another women was sleeping in dancing
posture, another one had Veena on her
hand, another woman was holding madukka/musical instrument and sleeping,
another one is holding Pataha close to her chest and sleeping, these women were
holding various musical instruments like flute, Mridanga, Padma, Dindima, Adambara, etc….close to their
bosom and sleeping, some of them were remained entwined each others in sleep. Suddenly, Hanuman noticed a gorgeous woman
sleeping in a couch positioned not too far from the place of young maiden who
were sound asleep. It was Mandodhari,
dear to the demon King Ravana, who has stunning figure, adorned in most
excellent jewels, fair complexion and has the radiance of golden hue. Instantly, Hanuman, great warrior thought “It
must be Sita of unparalleled beauty.” In
extreme delight Hanuman embraced his arms, kissed his tail, climbed up and down
the pillars and engrossed in all monkey acts.
