The illustrious Sage
Rishyashrunga absorbed in meditation for a while, extreme thoughtfulness about
the proceedings of the ritual informed his decision to perform Puthrakameshti
Yaga to beget progeny for the King Dasaratha.
The proceedings of the Yaga commenced with Vedic chants followed by
offerings into the sacred fire. The
deities, celestials, Siddhas, Sages, Rishi, Pithrus are pleased at the
proceedings of Yaga and assembled in the ritual fire to receive their part of
offerings.
The deities approached Lord Brahma
and narrated the atrocities of the demon Ravana after obtaining several boons
from Lord Brahma. Ravana started
harassing the three world’s desires to capture Lord Indra who is the King of
supreme deities of the Universe. The
demon Ravana turned into haughty after obtaining boons, he tortured Rishis, Sages, and celestials, Gandharvas,
Yakshas and Brahmins. Lord Surya, Lord
Vayu, Lord Varuna are afraid to perform their duties due to the fear of
Ravana. Thus, all the deities sought the
protection of Lord Brahma and requested to annihilate the demon Ravana. Lord Brahma memorized the boon offered to
Ravana, as per the boon obtained by Ravana it is impossible to kill him by any
Gandharva, Yaksha, deities or demons.
Ravana had extreme disrespect to human race hence he forgot to mention
them while praying for boon, all the deities and sages were extremely happy to
listen to Lord Brahma. In the meantime,
Lord Vishnu appeared before them on his celestial vehicle Garuda, His four
hands were holding conch, mace, lotus and disc respectively, He was elegantly
attired in enthralling yellow robes and finest jewels. All the deities and Sages eulogized the
glories of Lord Vishnu and pleaded to save the universe from the mayhem caused
by demon Ravana, desired the prosperity of the three worlds requested Lord
Vishnu to take birth as son of the righteous King Dasaratha, emperor of the
Kingdom of Ayodhya who has innumerable possession of Hri/Virtue, Sri/Affluence
and Kri/fame. Consequently, Lord
Vishnu’s birth as a human through one of the wives of King Dasaratha would
destroy Ravana who is impossible to annihilate by any deities, demon, Gandharva
and Yaksha. The deities anxiously
explained the turmoil caused by Ravana in the lives of Sages, Rishis, Celestial
Gandharvas, Apsaras, Siddhas etc… Lord Vishnu pacified the deities and Sages
and agreed to take birth as human to eradicate the entire clan of demon Ravana
and rule the world for eleven thousand years.
The lotus eyed supreme Lord Vishnu decided to manifest as son of the
virtuous King Dasaratha. All the
deities, Sages, Rishis, Gandharvas, Rudras, celestials praised the divine
exposition of Lord Vishnu and prayed to annihilate Ravana and return to the
heavenly abode Vaikundha.
