After
listening to the description about the divine bow of Lord Shiva, Sage
Vishwamithra answered to King Janaka to reveal the bow to Rama. King Janaka ordered his ministers to bring
the divine bow which was decked with flower garlands and sandalwood paste. The five thousand men of unlimited powers tugged
the divine bow and placed into an eight wheeled casket was brought into the
assembly hall. King Janaka with folded
hands spoke “Oh! Brahmin, here is the marvelous bow venerated by the lineage of
the Kings of Kingdom of Janaka, which is impossible to hold and aim by the
powerful Kings. It is impossible for
even the deities or demons or Asuras or Gandharva or Yaksha or Kinnara or
Mahauragas, to have a proper grip on that, or tie string on it or aiming with
it. Oh! Munipungava, let the princes
examine the divine bow displayed.” Sage Vishwamithra ordered Rama to observe
the bow. Rama, sincerely followed the
words of his preceptor, approached the coffer and opened it, he witnessed the
divine bow of Lord Shiva and replied “ Oh! Brahmin I would like to feel the splendor
of the bow, shall I wield the same and aim with it.” Immediately, King Janaka and the Sages
assembled were expressed their willingness.
As thousands of Kings were witnessing, Rama/Raghunandan effortlessly
carried the marvelous bow and tied string on it. Further, Rama stretched the string up to his
ear to test its firmness, instantly the middle portion of the bow broken with
loud noise which has the resemblance of earthquake and explosion of mountain. All those Kings assembled were bewildered,
except Sage Vishwamithra, King Janaka and Raghavas. King Janaka with his folded hands spoke to
Sage Vishwamithra “ Oh! Bhagavan, I have witnessed the valor of Rama, son of
Dhasharatha. It was a massive bow
impossible to weigh it. How it was happened?
It is highly wondrous experience for me.
Rama, son of Dhasharatha will be the appropriate husband for my daughter
Sita and she will add fame to the clan of Janakas. Oh! Koushika, Sita is the reward for Rama’s
bravery, she was well taken care by me, and she is more than my life to me. Oh! Koushika, my ministers will leave to
Ayodhya very soon with all your permission to inform King Dhasharatha about the
progress of the events and bring them to my city as early as possible.” Sage Vishwamithra revealed his consent,
further King Janaka send his ministers and chief officials to Ayodhya to inform
King Dhasharatha and bring them to Mithila.
