Sage Shathananda continued “ Sage Vishwamithra continued severe austerities for thousand years, in the meantime Lord Indra assigned the celestial Apsara Rambha to perform a great task on behalf of the deities, that was to entice Sage Vishwamithra and create impediments to his penance.  Oh! Rama, the thousand eyed Lord Indra imposed the task on Rambha who was hesitantly replied to him with folded palms in trepidation “Oh! Surapathey, the illustrious Sage Vishwamithra will definitely get angry on me, I am worried of his wrath.”  Lord Indra pacified her “ Rambha, you may carry out my order without any fear, I will be beside you in the form of a marvelous musical bird  and Lord Manmatha in the form of  stunning trees of spring time. You persuade Sage Kaushika with your mesmerizing physical exquisiteness and thereby create obstacle to his asceticism.”  Rambha assumed the form of a celestial damsel and started to entice Sage Vishwamithra with her attractive smile.  Sage Vishwamithra could sense the pleasant ambience and the melodious music of the bird which gladdened him; he opened his eyes and witnessed the gorgeous Rambha before him.  Instantly, Sage Vishwamithra realized that it was the ploy of the thousand eyed Lord Indra, most infuriated Sage Vishwamithra who was undertaking severe austerities to win over the lust and anger, and he cursed Rambha to become a statue for ten thousand years for her mischievous act.  Rambha turned into a rock statue at the curse, Lord Indra and Lord Manmatha left the scene abruptly. Shortly, Sage Vishwamithra was besieged with utter guilt for his inability to control over his wrath; thereby he has lost the merit of asceticism, realized that he has to undergo severe austerities for another hundred years to attain complete control over his senses.   Sage Vishwamithra decided to continue austerities that will provide Brahminhood and with its merits he can remain breathless and foodless, even if the penances continue for endless years the bodily organs will remain intact.   Oh! Raghunandana, Sage Vishwamithra continued austerities for another thousand years that was incomparable vow in the world.”
